Altavista has an online-translation service for translating a few paragraphs of text, or a web page. Don't rely on it to compile your CV or love letters, but it will give the gist of a message.

T-mail features an email-based service, useful for correspondence.

Palmtop Software publish an excellent Italian-English dictionary for the Psion series of palmtop computers, licensed by Collins.



The Italian Tourist Web Guide (ITWG) is an excellent site with reviews and information on destinations within Italy, plus events, hotel and travel information, special offers, and even online shopping for authentic Italian products.

The series are an excellent range of websites focussed on the major Italian tourist destination cities, providing comprehensive tourist information and online reservations for each.

WhatsOnWhen contains up-to-date information on destinations, festivals, concerts, and other events.

In Italy Online is another site with wide-ranging information on Italy.

And as for destinations, one beautiful haven that the Italians have managed to keep to themselves is CinqueTerre



If you want to fly to Italy, Buzz, Go, Easyjet, and Ryanair all offer budget flights, while British Airways, Alitalia and Gandalf Airlines offer scheduled direct flights from the UK.

The Autostrade site contains useful information for those who are driving in Italy, including an interactive highway map.

Trenitalia is the official Italian Rail Network site, where you can check timetables and buy tickets online.



Major Italian Newspapers online include La Stampa, La Repubblica, and Corriere Della Sera, while

BravaItalia is an Internet portal site which features an English-language Cappuccino News.

Of the many radio stations online, Radio Deejay is a very popular commercial radio station who broadcast on the web in both audio and video.


Online Lessons

There are many sites which feature pre-set lessons that you can study online.

The BBC offer both Talk Italian, an online course by with video and audio resources, and Italian Fix.

Italian Language Lessons feature pre-set lessons similar to a listen-and-learn cassette course,

Oggi e Domani feature some online lessons with audio,

and Learn to Speak Italian offers lessons with an alternative subject matter
